U.S. Supreme Court hears Alabama case on political donation limit

WASHINGTON (AP) - An Alabama man is taking his court fight over political donations to the U.S. Supreme Court. Shaun McCutcheon of Hoover is challenging a law that limits the amount of money people can contribute to candidates seeking federal office. The court is set to hear arguments in the case on Tuesday. McCutcheon says the limit of $123,200 total to candidates and parties every two years violates his right to free speech. The Republican National Committee is supporting the electrical engineer in the case, but the Federal Election Commission is asking the court to uphold the limit. McCutcheon says he wants to do away the limit on the total amount of money he can give to multiple candidates seeking office
