MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Voters in southwest Alabama are going to the polls to elect a U.S. representative. Republican Bradley Byrne of Fairhope faces Democrat Burton Leflore of Mobile in the 1st Congressional District. Byrne led the race in fundraising, with $1.1 million compared to Leflore's nearly $7,000. Byrne also led in endorsements, including support from former U.S. Reps. Jo Bonner and Jack Edwards, both of Mobile. Bonner's resignation in August set up the unusual special election during the holiday season. The polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday. The 1st District covers all of Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Escambia and Monroe counties and part of Clarke County.
