Alabama Republican Roy Moore is losing the battle for campaign cash to Democrat Doug Jones—badly. That from the latest Federal election funding report as the candidates for Alabama’s junior U.S. Senate seat make the final sprint to Election Day on December twelfth. Moore raised under two million dollars during October and most of November, according to the report. During that same time, Doug Jones raised almost ten million.
This has allowed Jones to fill local television airwaves with political ads and efforts to get out the vote on Election Day. The former U.S. Senate attorney took part in Selma’s Christmas parade and spoke to parishioners and supporters at the Maggie Street Baptist Church. During his time as a federal prosecutor, Jones successfully convicted two members of the Ku Klux Klan for the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in Birmingham. His TV ads seek to capitalize on allegations of sexual molestation and assault against Moore, which the twice removed Chief Justice has denied but refuses to address through questions from the press.
Abandoned by many GOP donors, Moore is now looking to President Donald Trump and his political network for a final-days boost. The President will hold a campaign style rally in Pensacola this week, twenty miles from the Alabama border. The White House has said Trump will not campaign for Moore.
