(TUSCALOOSA, AL)-- Teachers and educators in Alabama are learning more about clean water. The Alabama Forestry Association is conducting a Teacher Conservation Workshop for high school teachers and educators in Alabama.
The workshop includes visiting recycling facilities, paper mills, forests, creeks, and talking with professionals who take care of the forest.
Ashley Smith, the education director with the Alabama Forestry Association, said that the two-day workshop costs $50. The registration fee covers hotel and lodging.
"It's great value for the educators or the participants' money because for the two-day workshop they gain continuation education hours," Smith said. "They are trained in environmental education curriculum Project Learning Tree, which is an international curriculum and correlated to federal and state standards for teaching."
The workshop, called Forest to Faucet, takes place Tuesday and Wednesday in and near Tuscaloosa.
