Auburn Statue Celebrates Women of the University

A new statue on campus celebrates the women of Auburn University.

The nearly 7-foot tall bronze statue was dedicated Friday to mark more than a century of women's enrollment at Auburn.

The design was inspired by a 2017 logo used as the Auburn Alumni Association celebrated the 125 years since women first enrolled at the university in 1892.

The project was led by an Auburn graduate, Lauren Duke Patterson. She is design director at Advent, a Nashville-based design firm that designed the installation.

Advent said the project, from conception to installation, took nearly a year and a half.

The statute is by the Mell Classroom Building.
