TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — A judge sentenced a former federal corrections officer to 42 months in prison for sexual assault of two prisoners and lying to investigators. The U.S. attorney in Birmingham announced the sentence in a news release Wednesday.
Adrian L. Stargell, a former Bureau of Prisons corrections officer who worked at the federal prison in Aliceville, had pleaded guilty to two counts of violating the rights of two women. He also pleaded guilty to making false statements to federal agents.
Prosecutors said during 2017 and 2018, while on-duty as an education specialist, Stargell sexually assaulted two women who were incarcerated at the prison.
When agents interviewed Stargell about the allegations, Stargell lied by falsely denying having any sexual contact with the victims.
