AEA: Doctors letting quarantined kids return early to school

A lawsuit has been filed to block state education officials from allowing payroll deductions from public school employees to fund the Alabama Education Association.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — An organization for Alabama teachers is expressing concern that children are being allowed to return to school before the end of required COVID-19 quarantine periods.

The Alabama Education Association sent a statement Thursday to the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.

The educator organization said some doctors are writing excuses for students to return to school before mandated quarantine periods expire. AEA says the practice endangers the lives of Alabama’s students and school employees. The group threatened possible legal action.
