Alabama is pausing its distribution of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine against COVID-19 out of an abundance of caution while federal officias investigate reports of rare blood clots.
State Health Officer Scott Harris said about 300 sites throughout the state were giving the vaccine and will stop during the investigation.
So far, Alabama has distributed 71,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines, which Harris said makes up a small percent of innoculations given in the state. Another 89,000 doses will be stored during the pause.
