The University of Alabama says flash flooding that hit the Tuscaloosa campus over the weekend damaged classrooms in four buildings. Fire Rescue officials also identified a driver who drowned when his car was swept under a small bridge. Search teams prepared to spend Sunday morning looking for forty year old Kelvin Watford. He was confirmed dead after his SUV was pulled from under a bridge on Greensboro Boulevard in Tuscaloosa.
Students at the University of Alabama will have to move to other classrooms in Reese-Phifer Hall, Doster Hall, Farrah Hall, and the Bureau of Mines. The school reports thirteen rooms were damaged by flooding. Work crews spent Sunday cleaning up debris and restoring power after students, staff, and faculty were texted to remain off campus due to streets that were left impassable. Roads around Tuscaloosa were flooded to the point that videos on Twitter showed one person swimming in the street.
