An Alabama coroner has been summoned to appear before a judge after a grand jury report said he is not fulfilling the duties of his office.

Lauderdale County Coroner George "Butch" Tucker will answer allegations on Jan. 6 from families who claim he neglected his job.

The complaints were noted in a grand jury report and stated Tucker sometimes failed to draw blood samples requested by police. The report also stated Tucker failed to submit samples for analysis by the Department of Forensic Sciences and had unnecessary delays in completing a death certificate.
