Several sites associated with Black history across the South are receiving grants from the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The $50,000 grants were given to sites selected in consultation with members of the Congressional Black Caucus, according to the SPLC. The "Mothers of Gynecology" monument in Montgomery was among those selected.

Other sites include the Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts in Eatonville, Florida; the Thiokol Memorial Project in Woodbine, Georgia; the Fannie Lou Hamer Civil Rights Museum in Belzoni, Mississippi; and the Cecil Williams South Carolina Civil Rights Museum in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
