Flash flooding swamps metro Birmingham after heavy rains

Much of the Birmingham area is dealing with the after effects of flash flooding.

Multiple streets in Jefferson and Shelby counties were flooded after some storms on Wednesday.

There were reports of fallen trees in Homewood and flooded homes and businesses in Sylacauga. Some roads were flooded with 4 inches of rain that fell during rush hour. More than three dozen people were rescued by fire crews. No major power outages were reported.
