TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — No charges are planned after a woman died following a visit to an Alabama abortion clinic.
The Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit says its investigators and state medical examiners reviewed what happened at the West Alabama Women's Center in May. The investigation found no basis for criminal charges. But state medical regulators are still looking into the case.
Anti-abortion activists have released details about the case, saying members saw a woman struggling as she left the clinic. They're calling for an investigation into the business.
