Alabama city officials drop chemical contamination lawsuit

GUIN, Ala. (AP) — City officials in Alabama have dropped a lawsuit filed against chemical giant 3M that alleged chemicals from the company’s facility had made its way into a creek supplying drinking water to the city.

AL.com reports the Guin Water works & Sewer Board said Tuesday it will now work with the company and state officials to investigate and address the presence of the chemicals in the water supply. A joint statement from the parties says the board will be retaining its right to refile a lawsuit if the effort does “not result in a satisfactory solution.”

The chemical company has faced multiple lawsuits over contamination.
