Alabamians are being advised by health officials to not swim in two rivers because of poor water quality.
The Mobile County Health Department issued the advisery against swimming in Dog River and Fowl River after local health officials and the Alabama Department of Envrionmental Management found an increase in bacteria during regular testing. The departments routinely collect samples from 25 coastal recreational sites throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties to test for enterococci bacteria.
Officials said the increase could be due to overflowing sewage caused by recent rainstorms.
