Moore To Appeal To US Supreme Court

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Roy Moore says he will appeal his dismissal from office to the US Supreme Court.
The former chief justice was removed for failing to comply with a federal court order to move his Ten Commandments monument from public view in the state judicial building. Moore's appeal to the US Supreme Court says his First Amendment right to recognize God as the moral foundation of American law was violated. He also says the decision in his case violated due process of law.
Meanwhile, two of the groups that sued over Moore's monument are skeptical of the appeal. The Southern Poverty Law Center calls it an attempt to keep Moore's name in the media. Americans United for Separation of Church and State says there's nothing new in Moore's arguments that would prompt the Supreme Court to hear the appeal. Moore says if the court refuses to hear his case, the fight to regain his job will be over.
