Mobile, AL – A MANDATORY EVACUATION IS IN PLACE FOR PORTIONS OF THE ALABAMA COAST AS
POWERFUL HURRICANE IVAN ROARS INTO THE GULF COAST. CHRIS NEWBOLD REPORTS FROM MOBILE.

GOVERNOR RILEY ORDERED THE EVACUATION OF ORANGE BEACH, GULF SHORES, FORT
MORGAN AND DAUPHIN ISLAND AFTER MEETING WITH LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
OFFICIALS. GOVERNOR RILEY HAS BEEN MONITORING IVAN AS THE STRONG HURRICANE
HEADS TOWARD THE GULF COAST.

GOVERNOR RILEY PLEDGED STATE SUPPORT TO HELP COASTAL ALABAMIANS IF THE
REGION SUSTAINS MAJOR HURRICANE DAMAGE. FORECASTERS AT THE NATIONAL
HURRICANE CENTER TOLD EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS IVAN COULD MAKE
LANDFALL NEAR THE ALABAMA MISSISSIPPI BORDER SOMETIME THURSDAY.
