Montgomery, AL – Former Governor Don Siegelman is dropping hints about coming back on the campaign trail. At a Democratic breakfast in Walker County Saturday...he said he'll follow his heart when making a decision about a bid for Governor in 2006. Siegelman was campaigning for local Democrats as well as for presidential candidate John Kerry. He says it was wonderful to be campaigning again...especially after being what he called derailed by a court challenge. In that case, prosecutors did drop the Medicaid fraud charges against Siegelman and one of his former aides. The action came last week after Birmingham Federal Judge U.W. Clemon threw out a conspiracy charge. Siegelman now says the case was damaging to his reputation, but he also says he's ready to go through a process of rehabilitation. Other than the possible re-election campaign...Siegelman says he's planning to return to his law practice and spend time with his family.
