Centre, AL – The Cherokee County Board of Education wants to join a lawsuit concerning a landfill bribery case. Montgomery lobbyist Lanny Young and former Probate Judge Phillip Jordan were charged in the case. Jordan has already agreed to plead guilty. Cherokee County Commissioners had promised local schools one-third of the revenue from the landfill. Now, the school board says the bribery scheme cheated the school system out of money. The Cherokee County Board of Education asked for permission to join the suit Tuesday.
