Alabama Soldiers Involved in Investigation

By Alabama Public Radio

Washington, DC – The Army is recommending punishment for about two dozen soldiers from an Army Reserve unit in Iraq. The soldiers did not obey orders to drive a fuel convoy. They said they believed the assignment was too dangerous, and they were especially concerned about the safety of their vehicles. There have been no final decisions on the matter. Preliminary results from an Army investigation focused on members of the South Carolina-based 343rd Quartermaster Company. The unit includes some members from Alabama. Most of the accused face administrative actions such as fines or reduction in rank, but some could face court-martial.
