AL Congressmen Endorse Andress

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's five Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives have endorsed longtime Republican activist Twinkle Andress to become the first woman to chair a major political party in Alabama. Congressmen Jo Bonner of Mobile, Robert Aderholt of Haleyville, Spencer Bachus of Birmingham, Terry Everett of Enterprise and Mike Rogers of Anniston all sent a letter endorsing Andress to the members of the state Republican Executive Committee. The more than 300-member executive committee will select a successor to outgoing chairman Marty Connors at its February meeting in Montgomery. Andress is the only announced candidate, but Birmingham attorney Bert Jordan says he's also been encouraged by some party leaders to run for the position.
