Washington, DC – Congressman Mike Rogers is one of the newest members of the U-S House Homeland Security Committee. House Speaker Dennis Hastert announced the appointment Wednesday. The panel oversees the country's third largest cabinet agency. It's responsible for many issues related to homeland security, including emergency responses to terrorist attacks, first responder funding, immigration and border security. Rogers already sits on two other committees -- Armed Services and Agriculture. He says the new assignment will help him better address the homeland security needs of rural Alabama. Rogers represents Alabama's third congressional district.
