Tuscaloosa, AL – Some health care operations in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa are working together to help clinics and hospitals in the state's poorest region. It's called the Instruments of Mercy Black Belt Initiative. It's designed to provide equipment such as suture kits and blood pressure machines to medical operations that need them. Hospitals in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham will donate the equipment, and the nonprofit organization Instruments of Mercy will deliver it. Congressman Artur Davis worked on the effort with Gene Robinson, C-E-O of Birmingham-based Integrated Medical Systems.
