Mobile, AL – A charge against Mobile County school board president David Thomas has been upgraded to a felony. He's charged with leaving the scene of a traffic accident that injured a child. The district attorney's office announced Wednesday that the charge had been upgraded from a misdemeanor. If convicted of the felony, Thomas would be removed from office. His term expires in 2008. Thomas has refused calls for his resignation following the accident on a downtown street on February 8, Mardi Gras Day. Thomas was also charged with driving under the influence in that accident.
