The Pope's Season of Suffering

This is Holy Week, when Christians mark the story of the last days of Jesus, culminating on Easter Sunday. This year, Pope John Paul II is conspicuous by his absence from Vatican ceremonies. Commentator James Martin, a Jesuit priest, says that the pontiff's illness is integral to his papacy, and the theology of Holy Week.
