Alabama Senate Locked in Filibuster

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – A filibuster shut down the Alabama Senate Tuesday afternoon. Some Republican senators are fighting a disclosure bill they say would harm the Christian Coalition of Alabama. The bill targets organizations that distribute voter guides or run advertisements to support or oppose legislation. It would require those organizations to reveal their financial donors. The bill's sponsor, Representative Randy Hinshaw, says it would make the political process more open. The bill has already passed the House.
