Regional Murrow Award -- News Series
Tuscaloosa, AL – The Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) has honored Alabama Public Radio's News Department with four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for 2005. Hear APR's winning entry for the News Series "Alabama's Rural Health Care Challenge."
Alabama Public Radio competes in the Small Market Radio category of RTNDA Region Nine, which includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Regional award winners will compete for national Murrow Awards in the summer of 2005.
The awards are named in honor of Edward R. Murrow, one of the most distinguished figures in the history of American broadcast journalism. His work for CBS is credited with creating and developing electronic newsgathering, and Murrow's legacy includes his coverage of World War Two in Europe.
