Washington, DC – A U-S Senate committee has approved the nomination of former state Attorney General Bill Pryor to the federal bench. The U-S Senate Judiciary Committee passed his nomination on a strictly partisan vote after nearly two hours of debate. Ten Republicans, including Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, approved it. The eight Democrats on the committee opposed it. The approval means the nomination will now go to the Senate floor. But Senate Democrats are threatening to filibuster the nomination to avoid a vote. But Republicans are threatening to prohibit future filibusters if that happens.
