Montgomery, AL – Ralph Howard became a member of the state House of Representatives Monday. He took the oath of office on the last meeting day of the regular session. Howard is a Democrat from Greensboro. He was elected to fill the House District 72 seat. It became vacant when Bobby Singleton was elected to the state Senate. The Alabama House now has 63 Democrats and 42 Republicans. Howard is 37 years old and says he wants to improve education and create more jobs in his House district. District 72 covers much of the state's Black Belt region. Howard is a former Marine and Gulf War veteran. He teaches adult education at the Bibb County Correctional Institute in Brent.
