Undated – Alabama emerged from the recent military base closure process in very good position. The state is expecting to actually gain jobs. But a delegation of political leaders and others will attend a regional meeting this week to discuss the Base Realignment and Closure commission's recommendations. U-S Senator Richard Shelby will lead Alabama's delegation. The group is hoping to convince the BRAC panel to change a few recommendations. At the top of the list is keeping an Air Force technology service at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery. The commission has proposed moving the service to Massachusetts.
