State Bill Would Allow Military Personnel to Vote by Fax

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Currently military personnel must cast votes and apply for ballots through the mail. The bill was pre-filed by Senators Gerald Dial, a Lineville democrat, and Montgomery republican Larry Dixon. Dial says he believes the bill would eliminate delays that have caused some military ballots to arrive after election day. Dixon says the bill would assure that votes by military personnel ``will be counted.'' The bill will be considered during the regular session of the Legislature, which begins in January.
