Alabama – It is a planned 500-thousand-square-foot facility at which scientists would study potential bioterrorism threats to the US food supply and humans. Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas have also filed proposals with The Department of Homeland Security. The deadline was last Friday. A spokesman for DHS says more proposals may be added in the coming weeks. A short list of finalists will be announced in the fall, then environmental assessments will take place next year.
