Alabama Power Settles EPA Lawsuit

Jefferson County AL – Alabama Power will pay a 100-thousand dollar penalty and reduce pollution at its west Jefferson County power plant. This, as part of a lawsuit settlement after the company was accused of failing to build the Miller Steam Plant in Jefferson County in accordance with the U-S Clean Air Act. The lawsuit was filed by the Environmental Protection Agency. The settlement was reached after court ordered mediation between Alabama Power, the E-P-A and the Alabama Environmental Council.
