Montgomery, AL – The state Judicial Inquiry Commission recently rejected a complaint against state Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker. Tuscaloosa attorney Joel Sogol had complained Parker violated the standards of conduct for Alabama judges. Parker had written a newspaper commentary critical of his fellow justices. Sogol says the Judicial Inquiry Commission determined Parker's remarks came under a 2002 U-S Supreme Court ruling. It struck down speech restrictions on judicial candidates. Parker is challenging Chief Justice Drayton Nabers in the June sixth Republican primary.
