By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham AL – Birmingham police have reported the city's 60th homicide so far this year. 16-year old Jamell Gamble was found shot on 33rd Street North Saturday afternoon. The teen was lying on the ground in an apartment complex when police arrived. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. No immediate arrests or charges have been filed. In an unrelated shooting, two Birmingham men were killed early Saturday morning and a third wounded. As of this same time last year, the city had seen 42 homicides ... a number which had increased sharply from the year before.
