Montgomery, AL – Martin Luther King the Third is supporting Montgomery Public Schools Superintendent Carlinda Purcell, saying she needs more time on the job. King says Purcell has focused on the city's children and needs more time on the job before a firing decision is made. He also questioned how far Montgomery has come since the struggle for Civil Rights. Purcell is a black woman who took the superintendent's job in late 2004. Purcell and the school board are in mediation to end her four-year contract. A Montgomery County judge has given Purcell and the board until today (Thursday) to reach an agreement.
