Swimming Accident Kills One, Injures Another

By Associated Press

Daleville AL – The body of a 21-year-old Enterprise man was recovered after he drowned Sunday afternoon while on an outing on the Choctawhatchee River in rural Dale County.

Authorities said a second man nearly drowned, but he was revived and was taken to a hospital in Enterprise. Their names were withheld.

Authorities said the drowning occurred at about 2 p.m. at a site between Daleville and Wicksburg.

County Coroner Woody Hilboldt said language barriers hampered the investigation because the victims and their friends are Hispanic and spoke little or no English.

Dale County Sheriff Wally Olsen said the drowning appeared to be accidental.
