Heat Wave Blankets Alabama

Undated, AL – The National Weather Service has posted a heat advisory for all of central and north Alabama.

Forecasters expect temperatures above 100 degrees Thursday in most locations.

It will mark the 14th 100 degree day in the month of August.

New record highs were set Wednesday across the state. The thermometer peaked at 107 in Pinson; it was 104 in Montgomery; 104 in Birmingham and Anniston; The high in Huntsville was 102, and it was 103 in Muscle Shoals.

National Weather Service meteorologists say rain chances look bleak for much of the state.

Alabama health officials urge people to take special measures to keep cool, including drinking lots of fluids and staying inside air-conditioned spaces.
