Montgomery, AL – Two-year chancellor Bradley Byrne announced yesterday that the system's head financial officer has been fired. Byrne says Debbie Dahl's termination was effective immediately and she vacated her office early Monday morning.
He said he feels like the system needs somebody different and he's been evaluating the department's senior leadership ever since he became chancellor in May.
Byrne indicated that more firings aren't immement, but he didn't complety rule that out.
A representative from the state finance office will take the vacant position until a permanent replacement is found.
Byrne hopes to have the job filled by November.
Dahl was hired by the system in 1982. She could not immediately be reached for comment.
The 25-year deptartment veteran had been tied to several questionable incidents, including transactions involving the Alabama Fire College Foundation.
Byrne said her termination was a result of a variety of issues.
