School Board Hires Two-Year Presidents

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – The State Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the appointment of two community college presidents.

Thursday, the board accepted Chancellor Bradley Byrne's recommendations for the appointment of Stephen Franks as president of Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City and Robert Exley as president of Snead State Community College in Boaz.

Franks is an Alabama native and comes to Central Alabama from Arkansas. Franks, who left Alabama for Arkansas more than 10 years ago, was a familiar face to many board members because he previously worked in Alabama's state department of education.

Exley received his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin and has worked at community colleges around the country.
