Tuscaloosa, AL – Shelton State Community College is reusing some of the $50,000 in furnishings removed from the home of its former president Rick Rogers.
The furnishings being reused in campus offices include a $2,800 Italian marble table, a $3,095 dining room buffet and a $650 32-inch television. A $4,650 passenger golf cart also was removed.
Some pieces, such as a $6,590 custom entertainment center, were placed in storage and will be sold or disposed of, in accordance with state policy.
Rogers was placed on administrative leave a year ago after a federal plea agreement by a former Alabama Fire College official gave details on $11,000 that was spent by the Fire College's private foundation on furniture for the home that's now offered for sale.
In an agreement with two-year college Chancellor Bradley Byrne, Rogers retired as president in May. Rogers moved out of the house at the end of July.
