Riley Proposes More Money for Online Distance Learning

Gurley, Ala. – Governor Bob Riley is proposing more money for an online distance learning program in Alabama high schools.

The governor toured the ACCESS classroom at Madison County High School Wednesday during an advanced math class. Students from two other high schools participated in the class through a live video conference.

Through the distance learning initiative, students can take classes their schools don't offer through other schools.

ACCESS stands for Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators and Students Statewide. It is available to 170 high schools and 23,000 students. Riley said he wants every high school in the state to have access in about three years.
