Alabama Lawmaker Retires from Position at Two-Year College

Alexander City – State Representative Betty Carol Graham is retiring from her position as vice president of Central Alabama Community College.

The Alexander City Democrat said her decision to retire as of January 31st has nothing to do with a new policy by two-year colleges Chancellor Bradley Byrne and Governor Riley that will require system employees who also serve in the Legislature to give up one of the two positions after 2010.

Graham, who has worked at Central Alabama for 18 years and has been in public education for 36 years, said she had been planning to retire for some time.

She has served in the House since 1994 and has nearly three more years on the current term.
