Clanton – A former FEMA staffer has been chosen to lead Alabama's emergency management agency. Brock Long was picked by Governor Bob Riley to fill the Cabinet vacancy left by the resignation last year of Bruce Baughman.
The 32-year-old Long recently has worked with the Beck Disaster Recovery firm. He previously served as the Federal Emergency Management Agency's hurricane program manager for six Southeastern states.
In that job, he designed hurricane evacuation plans for Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
