Birmingham – Unexpected snow flurries covered rooftops and bushes with a light white coating across north Alabama this morning, but forecasters said no significant accumulation was expected.
Light snow fell from the Tennessee Valley as far south as Montgomery, and Huntsville police said there were icy spots on elevated roadways.
While high temperatures were predicted only in the mid to upper 30s in the region, the National Weather Service said precipitation should end before nightfall, reducing the chances of travel problems.
