Alabama Candidates Battle for Cash in Congressional Races

Washington, D.C. – Alabama's congressional candidates are battling for campaign cash. The latest financial reports show Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright lagging behind several Republican candidates in fundraising.

They are vying to succeed retiring GOP Representative Terry Everett in southeastern Alabama's 2nd Congressional District.

In north Alabama's 5th District, Republican Wayne Parker and Democratic state Senator Parker Griffith set the pace in a crowded field of candidates seeking to replace outgoing Democrat Bud Cramer.

And in eastern Alabama's 3rd District, a 28-year-old Democrat from Montgomery making his first bid for public office outraised third-term Republican state Representative Mike Rogers of Saks.

The quarterly filing period ended March 31.
