Ala. Senate Votes To Provide tax Breaks To Movies

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Senate has voted to provide tax breaks to movie and television productions working in the state.

The Senate passed the bill Wednesday evening 30-0. One of the bill's co-sponsors, Democratic Sen. Tom Butler of Madison, said many other states offer tax incentives and Alabama needs to provide them to be competitive.

The bill now goes to the House for consideration.

The bill won Senate approval on the Senate's busiest day of the 2008 regular session. The Senate also gave final approval to another bill that will provide tax breaks to companies that produce electricity using alternative energy sources.
