Sunday Morning Storms Hit Alabama

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa AL – Tornado warnings were issued across much of central Alabama early Sunday morning during a wave of severe weather.

A possible tornado was reported touching down in Cullman, Walker and other counties. Strong winds knocked down trees and powerlines temporarily blocking some roads. Interstate 65 southbound was among the roads affected. There was also some flooding reported in St. Clair, Shelby and Jefferson counties.

The storms are blamed for at least 22 fatalities in Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas on Saturday. They also caused severe weather in Georgia and the Carolinas after exiting Alabama on Sunday.
