Daphne, AL – Authorities say between 15,000 and 20,000 utility customers in Baldwin County were in the dark for hours over the weekend after severe storms rolled through the area.
Power outages Saturday night were reported in Daphne, Spanish Fort, Montrose, Loxely, and Fairhope areas.
Officials at Riviera Utilities say that lightning damage to two transmission lines was the cause of the blackout.
Technicians managed to restore power to most of the affected areas during the night and early Sunday morning.
The utility company says that efforts will continue to return power to all affected areas.
