Athens, AL – The Tennessee Valley Authority has shut down a reactor at the Browns Ferry nuclear plant in north Alabama to repair a leak in a steam pipe.
TVA spokesman Craig Beasley said the Unit 3 reactor was taken off-line about 3 a.m. Friday to fix the leak.
Beasley said TVA would do some routine maintenance during the shutdown, which is expected to be short. Browns Ferry's other two reactors are continuing to operate.
